Press Release: Concord Launches “History Without Frostbite” Winter Series

History Without Frostbite Comes to Wright Tavern

Winter History Talks–No Parkas Required

Concord, MA – This winter, history lovers can trade icy sidewalks for a warm seat and a lively conversation as History Without Frostbite returns to the historic Wright Tavern. These engaging 90-minute indoor programs explore Concord’s past through powerful stories of courage, leadership, and change–no long walks or frozen toes involved.

Held at the iconic Wright Tavern, where revolutionary conversations once shaped a nation, the series invites participants to dig deeper into Concord’s Black and women’s history through expert-led presentations and discussion.

February Programs

Black History of Concord
February 11 & February 26
Noon–1:30 PM

This compelling presentation explores Concord’s rich and often overlooked Black history–from the realities of enslavement to the rise of self-emancipated leaders who claimed power, agency, and voice. Participants will meet the first generations of free Black Concordians and learn how families worked, organized, and fought to shape their own destinies while pushing the town–and the nation–closer to freedom and equality.

Presented by:

  • Richard Piccarretto, Historical Interpreter

March Programs

Women of Concord

Long before the term “changemaker” existed, Concord’s women were rewriting the rules. This program highlights the women who led movements, challenged injustice, and helped create a distinctly American voice in literature, art, and reform. Through their stories–and the places where they lived and worked–participants will discover how women shaped Concord’s past and continue to inspire its present.
