Thoreau’s Cape Cod Readathon

Thoreau’s Cape Cod Readathon will run Saturday, October 7 and Sunday, October 8 with live readings will run from 10 am – 3 pm daily. This first-of-its-kind, two-day live reading of Henry David Thoreau’s Cape Cod celebrates an iconic work that depicts the natural beauty of Cape Cod and how Thoreau’s depiction of the environment and Cape Cod life has changed over time. Inspired by national Moby Dick and Ulysses community readathon models, over 90 in-person readers will represent voices from the community, nature lovers, local leaders, and Thoreau fans during this unique event being held in celebration of Barnstable Land Trust’s (BLT) 40th anniversary. Shuttle bus service is expected to run from 9 am – 3:30 pm daily Location: The Michael R. Kramer Center and barn at Fuller Farm, a signature Barnstable Land Trust property in Marstons Mills on Cape Cod. The event will be live-streamed. Shuttle buses from off site parking areas will also allow the general public to picnic, hike, and listen to readers who will be stationed inside the barn.
