SUMMARY:"Earthworks: Evolution" Ceramics Biennial
DESCRIPTION:The Umbrella Arts Center of Concord\, MA presents its second Ceramics Biennial Exhibition\, “Earthworks: Evolution”\, a regional show celebrating the depth of history\, tradition\, and cultural expression in contemporary ceramics\, and the ways in which artists continue to expand the field through innovation and reinterpretation.  \nAdmission is free and the Allie Kussin Gallery is open to all. The works in this exhibition will be available for purchase via ArtCloud.com after the opening reception; for earlier inquiries\, please reach out to Julia@TheUmbrellaArts.org. \nExhibition Dates: April 29 – June 28\, 2026 |Opening Reception: April 29\, 6:00 – 8:00 PM (RSVP requested) | Form and Narrative on Elegantly Embossed Ceramics with Juror and Visiting Artist Lisa Orr: Workshop ($70) – REGISTER HERE | Artist’s Talk (Free) – RSVP requested \nJUROR: Lisa Orr has been a studio potter for over 40 years. Orr’s ceramics lushly blend historical\, functional roots with organic\, fluid forms that embrace gentle asymmetry. Inspired by nature and intuition\, her richly textured and colorfully glazed slip-cast surfaces evoke birds on the wing\, coral reefs\, and blooming flowers\, resulting in work that’s vibrant\, emotional\, and assured. \nFEATURED ARTISTS: Alice Abrams • Jack Abramson • Chris Archer • Ben Babcock • Becky Bailey • Sasha M Bergmann • Heather Binder • Josephine Burr • Bob Callahan • Loring Cheney • Claire Corey • Julie Cunningham • Holly Curcio • Christine DeGennaro • Natasha Dikareva • Helen Duncan • Larry W Elardo • Katie Fee • Debra Fleury • Molly Frantz • Leslie Fry • Fionnuala Hart Gerrity • Pam Golden • Joan Hilton • Alexandra Hogan Kosciak • Lindsey McFarland Howarth • Tom Hubbard • Kyle Johns • Hillary Ellen Kane • Grace Kerr • Yeonsoo Kim • Lucien Koonce • Gwendolyn Lanier • Jaeok Lee • Warren Mather • Jennifer McCandless • Eliane Medina • Donna Namnoum • Elizabeth Ocean • Shyanne Ogilvie • Linnea Pappas-Byers • Jenny Peace • Julie Peck • Ingrid Raab • Andrew Robinson (boats by drew) • Ellen Schön • Kimberly Scott • Corran Shrimpton • Anne Thiam • Joan Zagrobelny

SUMMARY:Patriots of Color Walking Tour with VisitConcord
DESCRIPTION:Between twenty and forty colonists who fought along the Battle Road on April 19\, 1775\, were of African descent or Indigenous people. Although excluded from required militia service prior to the war\, these individuals of color were the first of many to take up arms between 1775 and 1783. \nBy the end of the conflict\, an estimated 5\,500 African and Indigenous  men served on the colonial side. Unfortunately\, systemic racism and historical bias have erased or buried many records of Black and Indigenous people who played a prominent role in the founding of the United States. In this 90 minute walking tour we will examine the known history and stories of these Patriots of Color who fought for freedom locally both during the American Revolution and beyond. This tour examines the incredible stories of individuals who risked everything during their struggle for liberty\, equality\, and freedom for all.\nSign up at https://visitconcord.org/visit/walking-tours/
