SUMMARY:Ancient Light: Celestial Photography by Marsha Wilcox
DESCRIPTION:“There is art in the science\, and science in the art.” – Marsha Wilcox \nAncient Light transforms the Allie Kussin Gallery from Jan 12 – Mar 22 with celestial photography by Marsha Wilcox. Join us for a joint opening reception on Jan 28 at 6 PM celebrating Ancient Light and Carl Ristaino’s Inspirational Jam (RSVPs appreciated). \nCelestial photographer Marsha Wilcox has been passionate about outer space since her childhood when her father taught her about celestial navigation. Like so many before her\, Marsha has wondered about the cosmos: its beauty\, mystery\, and immensity. \nAncient Light invites you to look up and explore the worlds beyond our own. Through long-exposure photography\, Marsha is able to capture the night sky high above Concord. What will these celestial bodies tell us about ourselves? How can we reconnect with our past\, present\, and future by connecting with the cosmos? \nExplore additional programming: \nGalaxy Walks (gallery tours with Marsha Wilcox\, ~one hour long): \n\nTuesday\, February 3\, 11:00 AM\nSaturday\, February 28\, 1:00 PM\nThursday\, March 5\, 11:00 AM\nSaturday\, March 21\, 2:00 PM\n\nRSVPs appreciated \nArtist Talk (both Marsha Wilcox and Carl Ristaino of Inspirational Jam): February 21\, 2:00 PM\, Black Box Theater \nRSVPs appreciated

SUMMARY:Inspirational Jam: Paintings by Carl Ristaino
DESCRIPTION:Carl Ristaino’s imagination comes alive through dynamic jazz scenes and whimsical cityscapes in Inspirational Jam\, on view in the Wedge Gallery from Jan 26 – Mar 29. Join us for the opening reception on Jan 28 at 6 PM celebrating Inspirational Jam and Marsha Wilcox’s Ancient Light (RSVPs appreciated).  \nWorking in acrylics\, Ristaino builds layers of bold color that capture the transcendence of live music and fantastical worlds. In his jazz series\, Ristaino’s canvases become stages where musicians lean into their instruments\, vocalists throw their heads back in ecstatic song\, and the audience communes over the pleasure of spontaneous creativity. His paintings don’t just document performance; they are improvisations themselves. \nRistaino’s Ancient Cities take us to unknown\, and yet familiar\, places. He combines castles and pirate ships with UFO’s and ancient pyramids to build a world of pure creativity. Each Ancient City invites the viewer to imagine a new story and to look closely at the canvas\, and within themselves\, to discover new corners of imagination. \nArtist Talk (both Carl Ristaino and Marsha Wilcox of Ancient Light): February 21\, 2:00 PM\, Black Box Theater\, RSVPs appreciated

SUMMARY:Concord Band Winter Concert: "Movie Night"
DESCRIPTION:Concord Band Presents “Movie Night” \nThe Concord Band presents its Winter Concert\, titled “Movie Night\,” on Saturday March 14\, 2026\, 7:00 pm at the Performing Arts Center\, 51 Walden Street\, Concord MA. Music Director James O’Dell has selected iconic themes from film scores. \nThe title theme from John Williams’ jazz-oriented and Oscar-nominated score for Catch Me if You Can was arranged for band by Jay Bocook and features Concord Band alto saxophone soloist David Southard and the Band’s vibraphone and xylophone players. \nThe program includes a medley of movie music by fellow Academy Award winning composer Enrico Morricone\, from popular spaghetti Westerns Once Upon a Time in the West as well as The Good\, the Bad\, and the Ugly. More Western themes are featured from Elmer Bernstein’s Oscar-nominated score for The Magnificent Seven. \nHollywood has long relied on Broadway adaptations to fill movie theaters. The program will present selections from Leonard Bernstein’s music for the Tony award winning show and 1961 Oscar for Best Score in a Musical\, West Side Story\, arranged for band by W. J. Dutroit. \nWalt Disney’s animated classic Fantasia is now widely regarded as one of the most significant animated films of all time\, in part due to innovative symphonic performances of classical music in an animated feature. For this concert\, the Concord Band will play Night on Bare Mountain by Modest Mussorgsky\, which featured prominently in the film. \nAlthough Johan de Meij’s band Symphony No. 1 The Lord of the Rings was written some twelve years before the movie trilogy and their scores by Howard Shore\, nonetheless characters and action from the popular books and movies will spring to life when the Concord Band plays the first and fifth movements\, “Gandalf” and “Hobbits.” \nThe Concord Band is a 65-piece symphonic band that plays at least five indoor and six outdoor concerts each year. The March 14 concert is free with open seating and a requested donation of $20. A complimentary reception will follow the concert. \nAdditional information about the Concord Band and the concert can be found at the website www.concordband.org\, the blog at concordband.blogspot.com\, on Facebook and YouTube.

SUMMARY:Concord Women's Chorus program with chorus member\, Diane Taraz celebrating Women's History Month "Winning the Vote".
DESCRIPTION:Concord Women’s Chorus (CWC)\, fostering the power of women’s voices in song\, presents a special Women’s History Month event\, “Winning the Vote\,” a one-woman concert by performing artist and chorus member Diane Taraz\, on Sunday\, March 15\, 3 pm\, at First Parish in Concord\, 20 Lexington Road. \n“Winning the Vote” traces the long\, determined\, and often overlooked struggle to secure women’s suffrage in the United States\, culminating in the ratification of the 19th Amendment in 1920. Through historically rooted storytelling and lively\, compelling music\, Taraz brings to life the winding path that began as the nation itself was forming\, continued through the 1800s\, and became deeply intertwined with the movement to abolish enslavement. Though first proposed in 1878\, the amendment took 41 years to become law — a journey rich with resilience\, conflict\, and courage. \nA longtime member of Concord Women’s Chorus\, Diane Taraz is known for her engaging performance style and deep connection to American musical traditions. In this intimate\, educational\, and entertaining program\, she invites audiences to experience history not only as a narrative but as a living\, breathing expression through song. \nRefreshments will be served following the “Winning the Vote” performance. A suggested donation of $20 supports Concord Women’s Chorus and its mission-driven programming.
