SUMMARY:Concord Museum "Whose Revolution" Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:To commemorate the 250th anniversary of the start of the American Revolution\, the Concord Museum is proud to share the new special exhibition\, Whose Revolution. \nOpening March 28\, Whose Revolution offers a fresh\, inclusive perspective on this pivotal moment in American history\, centering the experiences of women\, Indigenous communities\, and free and enslaved Black people who grappled with the meaning of revolution in their own lives. Through a rich array of objects\, from paintings\, prints\, and political cartoons to historic clothing\, textiles\, furniture\, and ceramics\, as well as film and multimedia installations\, Whose Revolution provides a vivid and tangible sense of what it was like to live through this dramatic period of mounting tension and crisis and the significance of this history today. \nFeatured objects include a lavish British Spitalfields silk gown and other historic textiles illuminating the experiences of women and children\, a media installation exploring the lives of free and enslaved Black people in Concord\, a new commissioned wampum choker by Elizabeth James-Perry (Aquinnah Wampanoag)\, and a film with Elizabeth Solomon (Massachusett) reflecting on the meaning of the American Revolution within Indigenous communities in Massachusetts. Whose Revolution will also feature portraits by John Singleton Copley\, a first printing of Phillis Wheatley’s Poems on Various Subjects\, ceramics\, and prints\, on loan for the special exhibition. \n\nGet Tickets

Bring your imagination\, unique perspective\, and experience to honor America’s past while envisioning a future that truly embodies justice\, equity\, and inclusion for all. \n  \nShare widely with your community\, and please consider submitting. \nWhat We’re Looking For \nWe’re seeking one original\, unpublished English-language poem per entrant\, no longer than 260 words (excluding title\, dedications\, and epigraphs). SUMMARY:Third Thursday August 21 Join us! 5-8 p.m.
DESCRIPTION:Concord Center welcomes you for art\, culture\, shopping\, and dining from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM\, featuring over 30 local businesses staying open late with special offerings. \nThe August 21st event includes live music and interactive entertainment for all ages. Joe Pete brings his roots-based rock to the lawn of the Visitors center. You’ll be tapping your toes!  On the lawn of the Middlesex Bank make a kite to take home.\nOther happenings include a performance by The Concord Minute Men Fife & Drum Corps at Louisa May Alcott’s House\, and the final chance to see “Whose Revolution” at the Concord Museum \nPick up a “Third Thursday Passport” at the Visitors Center or any participating business.  Collect a stamp or signature from any four Concord businesses to be entered to win a gift basket.  There’s a new gift basket available every month! \nVisitors can expect extended business hours at shops\, galleries\, and eateries\, alongside sidewalk games\, chalk art\, and hands-on arts activities. Participating businesses will also offer unique in-store experiences\, making Third Thursday a highlight of the summer calendar in Concord. \nThird Thursday in Concord Center is executed by the Town of Concord in partnership with the Concord Chamber of Commerce.   Programming is supported by the Concord Cultural Council and the Mass Cultural Council as part of the Concord Center Cultural District program\, celebrating local arts and community spirit.
