SUMMARY:A Wing and a Prayer: The Race to Save our Vanishing Birds at the Concord Museum
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, July 11  7:00 – 8:00 pm \nLongtime journalists Anders and Beverly Gyllenhaal will join us at the Concord Museum to discuss the findings in their new book\, A Wing and a Prayer: The Race to Save Our Vanishing Birds. Anders and Beverly Gyllenhaal relay what is being done to save birds in the midst of dramatic downturns in North American populations. \nCo-Sponsored by Mass Audubon. \nMore information and registration at https://concordmuseum.org/events/a-wing-and-a-prayer/ \nFree for Museum and Mass Audubon members and livestream\, $10 non-members

SUMMARY:Buttrick Garden Tours
DESCRIPTION:Buttrick Garden Tours\n\nTuesdays\, June 27\, July 25\, 2023\n10:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.\nButtrick Gardens\n174 Liberty St\, Concord MA\nFree\, registration required \nJoin us for a free 30-minute tour of the Buttrick Gardens at Minute Man National Historical Park. Learn about the history and preservation of these beautiful gardens. We’ll find shady spots to view the historic plantings and discuss why the Buttrick Gardens recently received a Concord Historical Commission Landscape Preservation Award. \nBeginning in 1911\, two generations of the Buttrick family tended and enlarged the formal gardens until 1962\, when the National Park Service purchased the property. Stewards of the land since the colonial period\, the Buttrick family was proud that their gardens stood near the historic muster fields of April 19\, 1775. The eclectic gardens feature viewing terraces\, steps leading down to the Concord River\, elegant wrought ironwork\, and brick\, bluestone\, and cobblestone walkways. Framed by ornamental trees and shrubs\, the garden beds contain the Buttrick family’s award-winning iris and daylilies\, colorful spring bulbs\, and perennials that bloom from spring to fall. \nClick here to register for this free tour. To learn more or donate to the Buttrick Gardens\, please visit our garden webpage. To schedule a private group tour\, please contact Kathleen Fahey at director@friendsofminuteman.org.
