SUMMARY:Ancient Light: Celestial Photography by Marsha Wilcox
DESCRIPTION:“There is art in the science\, and science in the art.” – Marsha Wilcox \nAncient Light transforms the Allie Kussin Gallery from Jan 12 – Mar 22 with celestial photography by Marsha Wilcox. Join us for a joint opening reception on Jan 28 at 6 PM celebrating Ancient Light and Carl Ristaino’s Inspirational Jam (RSVPs appreciated). \nCelestial photographer Marsha Wilcox has been passionate about outer space since her childhood when her father taught her about celestial navigation. Like so many before her\, Marsha has wondered about the cosmos: its beauty\, mystery\, and immensity. \nAncient Light invites you to look up and explore the worlds beyond our own. Through long-exposure photography\, Marsha is able to capture the night sky high above Concord. What will these celestial bodies tell us about ourselves? How can we reconnect with our past\, present\, and future by connecting with the cosmos? \nExplore additional programming: \nGalaxy Walks (gallery tours with Marsha Wilcox\, ~one hour long): \n\nTuesday\, February 3\, 11:00 AM\nSaturday\, February 28\, 1:00 PM\nThursday\, March 5\, 11:00 AM\nSaturday\, March 21\, 2:00 PM\n\nRSVPs appreciated \nArtist Talk (both Marsha Wilcox and Carl Ristaino of Inspirational Jam): February 21\, 2:00 PM\, Black Box Theater \nRSVPs appreciated

SUMMARY:Holiday Pops Concert with the Firebird Pops Orchestra
DESCRIPTION:‘Tis the season to warm your soul with the festive sounds of the Firebird Pops Orchestra in The Umbrella’s state-of-the-art Theater 144. \nCozy up to two acts of beloved holiday classics–plus some new favorites!–performed by talented musicians from across New England. Let these rich\, vibrant orchestrations provide the soundtrack to your December as you enjoy solos by Mara Bonde\, Sandra Piques Eddy\, and Stephen Markarian with your loved ones. \nBringing the family? Pops the perfect introduction to the magic of the symphony for listeners of all ages. During intermission\, let little ones explore Educational activities with an Umbrella instructor while you visit Concessions and take in the beautiful abstract works in the Allie Kussin Gallery\, Joy & Peace. \nThere’s nothing quite like experiencing the joy of a full orchestra together—especially when everyone gets to sing along. Let your voice join in a rousing sing-along finale that fosters the warmth of community against the December chill. \nAbout The Firebird Pops Orchestra \nThe online musical sensation Firebird Pops was born “out of the ashes” of the COVID-19 shutdown\, its inaugural virtual performances taking grateful audiences by storm. Under the baton of founder and music director\, Brendan Kenney\, almost 60 musicians performed Harry Potter Symphonic Suite\, a medley of the score from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone\, garnering praise from MuggleNet.com\, Nerdist\, and New England’s Channel 7 News. Since then\, the orchestra has continued to grow in size and notoriety with its innovative digital performances from Phantom of the Opera\, the launch of the Firebird Vox choir\, and fresh seasonal concerts for the Halloween and Winter Holidays. Formally granted nonprofit status\, the Firebird Pops organization looks forward to expanding its in-person repertoire\, and The Umbrella is proud to introduce them to live audiences in our state-of-the-art Main Stage Theater 144!

SUMMARY:Musical Storytelling with Schumann Family Concert
DESCRIPTION:CCM Family Series!  “They belong only to us” was Clara Schumann’s response upon first listening to Robert Schumann’s Kindersezen\, “Scenes from Childhood”\, alluding to the tenderness of childhood remembrances and music as a shared experience. CCM piano faculty Kitty Cheung-Evans retells this 1838 work and prompts listeners to create their own stories in this participatory event. Movement titles such as “Dreaming” and “Of Distant Lands” inspire the imaginations of today’s youth and kindle affectionate sentiments of childhood for adults\, connecting all listeners with the art of musical interpretation. \nPurchase Tickets in advance or payable at the door for this event. ($10 General Admission and free for students 18 and under)
