SUMMARY:Be a part of the Concord250 Monumental Remake!
DESCRIPTION:Concord 250: Monumental (Re)Make \n\nCelebrate the 250th birthday of the battles of Concord and Lexington by helping us recreate Daniel Chester French’s iconic statue The Minute Man through collaborative 3D printing! \n\n\n\n \nWhat is this?\nThe Workshop is collaborating with local artist and author Dr. Linda Booth Sweeney to reimagine and reproduce a scale model of Daniel Chester French’s iconic statue The Minute Man through a collaborative 3D printing process! There are two ways to participate: \n#1 Print a Part.\nMakers of all ages are invited to visit the Workshop any time during regular Open Maker Hours to 3D print a part (or several!) of The Minute Man! Just follow the instructions to reserve a 3D printer and ask for a design file when you arrive! The Minute Man is a great project for beginners\, but if you’re new to our machines\, we strongly recommend reviewing our instructional materials before your visit \n#2 Build Together.\nMakers of all ages can also attend one of our interactive building sessions throughout the year to learn more about The Minute Man and 3D modeling and printing from Workshop staff and local artist and author Dr. Linda Booth Sweeney\, while assembling the pieces printed by our neighbors! Find upcoming sessions on the Workshop Calendar! \nWhere will the final project be displayed?\nNo matter how you choose to participate\, all contributors will have the opportunity to add their name to our makers record to be displayed alongside the completed project at the Library in 2025. \nIsn’t that a lot of plastic?\nYes\, it is! As a Certified Sustainable Library\, we take the environmental impact of a project like this very seriously. All components of the (Re)Make will be composed of PLA\, a vegetable-based plastic. The Library has secured a speciality recycling vendor to process the statue and any waste materials in the event that the statue must be disposed of. \nMy school/company/non-profit organization has a 3D printer – can we help?\nYes! Just complete our (Re)Make Partnership Interest Form\, and our staff will be happy to reach out with more information. \n\nThe original 3D scan of The Minute Man was generously donated by Todd Taylor of Minuteman Pewter. \n\n\n \n

In honor of the Concord250 celebrations\, Warhol’s original silkscreen of a Bald Eagle provides an inspirational and poignant reminder of the fight for independence and the ongoing struggle for environmental justice and conservation. SUMMARY:Concord Museum "Whose Revolution" Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:To commemorate the 250th anniversary of the start of the American Revolution\, the Concord Museum is proud to share the new special exhibition\, Whose Revolution. \nOpening March 28\, Whose Revolution offers a fresh\, inclusive perspective on this pivotal moment in American history\, centering the experiences of women\, Indigenous communities\, and free and enslaved Black people who grappled with the meaning of revolution in their own lives. Through a rich array of objects\, from paintings\, prints\, and political cartoons to historic clothing\, textiles\, furniture\, and ceramics\, as well as film and multimedia installations\, Whose Revolution provides a vivid and tangible sense of what it was like to live through this dramatic period of mounting tension and crisis and the significance of this history today. \nFeatured objects include a lavish British Spitalfields silk gown and other historic textiles illuminating the experiences of women and children\, a media installation exploring the lives of free and enslaved Black people in Concord\, a new commissioned wampum choker by Elizabeth James-Perry (Aquinnah Wampanoag)\, and a film with Elizabeth Solomon (Massachusett) reflecting on the meaning of the American Revolution within Indigenous communities in Massachusetts. Whose Revolution will also feature portraits by John Singleton Copley\, a first printing of Phillis Wheatley’s Poems on Various Subjects\, ceramics\, and prints\, on loan for the special exhibition. \n\nGet Tickets

SUMMARY:Reading the Declaration of Independence at the North Bridge
DESCRIPTION:“And for the support of this Declaration\, with a firm Reliance on the Protection of divine Providence\, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives\, our Fortunes\, and our sacred Honor.”\n\nOn April 19\, 1775 the Revolutionary War began at Lexington and Concord. Fourteen months later\, on July 4\, 1776 the Continental Congress meeting in Philadelphia adopted the Declaration of Independence\, permanently separating the 13 North American colonies from Great Britain. The war had taken on new meaning.Join us at Concord’s North Bridge\, site of the “shot heard round the world”\, at 2:30 p.m. on July 4th\, as we commemorate Independence Day. Hear the Declaration of Independence read by park volunteer Ed Hurley. Reflect on what it meant to those first hearing it in 1776 and what it means to us today. We will conclude the reading with a musket firing salute from 10th Massachusetts Regiment. \nThis event is co-sponsored by the Friends of Minute Man National Park
