DESCRIPTION:Experience a one-of-a-kind installation of dozens of stunning story trees crafted by talented local volunteers and organizations\, each featuring elaborate hand-made decorations inspired by a picture book. A centerpiece of the Museum’s community-focused programing\, this popular annual event celebrates children’s books and a love of reading as families explore new story trees\, sit and read together\, or undertake a festive scavenger hunt. Now in its 30th year\, in 2025 Family Trees will feature a mix of classic children’s books – from Goodnight Moon to the Very Hungry Caterpillar – and inspiring new books\, many by local authors. \nJoin us on December 14 for a festive Birthday Party to celebrate 30 years of Family Trees! Meet the local authors\, illustrators\, and even some of the characters from the books featured in this year’s installation. \nAdmission is $20 Adults; $15 Seniors & students; $10 Youth (6-17); $5 Children (3-5); Free Children (2 and under). Members Free. \nFamily Trees is a fundraiser for the Museum’s education initiatives which serve over 15\,000 students each year.

DESCRIPTION:Carl Ristaino’s imagination comes alive through dynamic jazz scenes and whimsical cityscapes in Inspirational Jam\, on view in the Wedge Gallery from Jan 26 – Mar 29. Join us for the opening reception on Jan 28 at 6 PM celebrating Inspirational Jam and Marsha Wilcox’s Ancient Light (RSVPs appreciated).  \nWorking in acrylics\, Ristaino builds layers of bold color that capture the transcendence of live music and fantastical worlds. In his jazz series\, Ristaino’s canvases become stages where musicians lean into their instruments\, vocalists throw their heads back in ecstatic song\, and the audience communes over the pleasure of spontaneous creativity. His paintings don’t just document performance; they are improvisations themselves. \nRistaino’s Ancient Cities take us to unknown\, and yet familiar\, places. He combines castles and pirate ships with UFO’s and ancient pyramids to build a world of pure creativity. Like so many before her\, Marsha has wondered about the cosmos: its beauty\, mystery\, and immensity. \nAncient Light invites you to look up and explore the worlds beyond our own. Through long-exposure photography\, Marsha is able to capture the night sky high above Concord. What will these celestial bodies tell us about ourselves? How can we reconnect with our past\, present\, and future by connecting with the cosmos? \nInspirational Jam: Paintings by Carl Ristaino | The Wedge Gallery | January 26 – March 29\, 2026 \nWorking in acrylics\, Carl Ristaino’s imagination comes alive through dynamic jazz scenes and whimsical cityscapes. He builds layers of bold color that capture the transcendence of live music and fantastical worlds. In his jazz series\, Ristaino’s canvases become stages where musicians lean into their instruments\, vocalists throw their heads back in ecstatic song\, and the audience communes over the pleasure of spontaneous creativity. His paintings don’t just document performance; they are improvisations themselves. \nRistaino’s Ancient Cities take us to unknown\, and yet familiar\, places. He combines castles and pirate ships with UFO’s and ancient pyramids to build a world of pure creativity. Each Ancient City invites the viewer to imagine a new story and to look closely at the canvas\, and within themselves\, to discover new corners of imagination.

High-Energy Bucket Drumming\nJoin us for a dynamic\, hands-on workshop that proves you don’t need fancy equipment to make incredible music! With nothing more than buckets and drumsticks\, participants of all skill levels can dive into an energizing and collaborative drumming session. \nIn this exciting\, rhythmic workshop\, you will be guided by CCM faculty member Tsuyoshi Honjo  through a series of exercises that build rhythmic mastery\, helping you deepen your understanding of musical timing\, pulse\, and complex syncopation. You will also experience the power of the collective groove\, strengthening teamwork and communication skills through shared\, focused drumming\, while enjoying the exhilarating\, high-energy release of stress reduction. \nYou’ll gain practical experience creating layered rhythms and intricate patterns. This unique experience strengthens musical connections and is proof that anyone can make music if they find the right beat. \nWho Should Attend? This dynamic workshop is designed for participants who are interested in teamwork\, focus\, and rhythmic development. Participants should have a minimum of 1 year of prior musical training (in any instrument\, voice\, or genre). Students younger than age 8 may participate if accompanied by a registered adult.
